The Idle Man Suede Western Tan Jacket

Tuesday, 5 December 2017

It's been a while since this guy featured on the blog, so we're back with another men's style piece featuring Sam. The man in my life knows what he likes when it comes to fashion, and after more than 13 years together, I fully understand his look.

Online menswear retailer The Idle Man, believes being stylish shouldn't be difficult. I'd describe Sam's style as pretty effortless, he never over thinks what he wears and keeps it pretty casual. When I was browsing The Idle Man, I was genuinely shocked by how very Sam it all is. They stock lots of different brands such as Levi's and The North Face (two of his favourites) but I was most impressed by their own label. It's simple but fashionable, and surprisingly affordable.

Men's Nike KD 8's Sneakers Review

It's taken almost 12 years but I finally understand Sam's style. I'd happily pick out an outfit for him and be 80% sure he'd like it. Similar to me, he has a thing for statement sneakers so it's no surprise he was drawn to these Nike KD 8 trainers from Footlocker

We both love Nike trainers, they have the best fit and are really comfortable as they have dreamy cushioned soles. When he took them out of the box, I initially thought they were silver but they are actually more grey with a slight metallic finish. Footlocker is one of our preferred sports shops, I'll never forget going into a few stores in the US and being addressed as 'Boss'. That's right.

Scotts Menswear: Fred Perry Review

Fred Perry is one of those brands I always associate with tennis (obviously) and No Doubt. It has quite a sporty, preppy vibe and I love their classic shapes and typically British styles. It's been a while since Sam featured on the blog so today he's back styling the latest collection from Fred Perry at Scott Menswear! Exhibit A:

Fred Perry Ringer Crew T-Shirt
Fred Perry Brentham Jacket

This grey/green Ringer Crew is one of Fred Perry's classic styles, Sam wears t-shirts 90% of the time so it's no surprise he was drawn to this one as it's completely his style! He's wearing the size medium which runs true to size. I would absolutely buy this if it was available for women, isn't it cute!?

The jacket Sam's wearing is called the Brentham, apparently this design was based on traditional British sailing gear. There's so much to like about this jacket, it's lightweight, durable and stylish - it also has the most beautiful royal blue lining. Again, he's wearing the size medium but I'd say it runs slightly small as it's more fitted but boy does he love this jacket!

Henry London Watch Review

Jacket & Tee: Fred Perry via Scotts Menswear (c/o) - Jeans: Banana Republic - Shoes: G.H. Bass - Watch: Henry London at Fraser Hart

Sam accessorised with his look with his Henry London Chiswick watch (which is such a great price for the design) and some G.H. Bass Graduate Brookes sneakers. He claims to have no style but I think he always looks naturally well styled... My melty heart!

Do you or your partner wear Fred Perry? Do you shop at Scotts Menswear?

New Look Menswear: Valentine's Day Outfit

Sam's back! It's been a little while since Sam has been featured on the blog but he's back today with a brand new Valentine's Day outfit. New Look recently set me the challenge of styling Sam, which I happily accepted! Any excuse to get him back on here. After being together for over 11 years, I like to think I know him pretty darn well. He's isn't a fan of logos, prefers high street to designer and isn't afraid to bush boundaries.

It's worth mentioning that the rain hasn't stopped for the past two weekends. Instead of calling these blog photos off, I knew Sam wouldn't mind using a beautiful pink heart umbrella by Love Umbrella for these shots. I love how confident he is and I think you'll agree, he worked this girly brolly like a pro.

Men's Nike Roshe One Running Trainers Review

Tuesday, 22 December 2015

My favourite person in the world is back! Sam loves a bit of outfit post action and I would never dare attempt to dress him, he's got his own distinct style which I love, even if I do tell him he looks like a grandad 70% of the time.

Although he does have a nice selection of brogues and smart shoes which he wears for special occasions, he mostly found wearing trainers. He's the kind of man who only buys a couple of pairs of new trainers a year and then wears them until they fall apart. So he's like most men, I guess. He was recently sent a new pair of Nike Roshe One to style from the King of Trainers, JD Sports.

Nike Roshe Red at Foot Locker

Foot Locker have just finished rolling out their Week Of Greatness featuring some exclusive drops from Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics and Vans, with appearances from Footballers Anthony Martial, Marcelo and Marouane Fellaini, Radio 1 star Monki, BMX legend Maxime Charveron, Olympic gold medallist Jan Frodeno, free runner Sebastien Foucan and Dutch B-Boy master Menno.

Tim was sent one of the exclusives from the featured Nike Monochrome Pack, some of Nike's most iconic styles all set to triple red. This colourway comes to life with a mix of textures, and the Roshe One (£69.99) looks amazing with it's mesh fabric upper contrasted with the rubber Swoosh and sole. These are one of Tim's fave styles, along with the Adidas ZX Flux, because they are so ridiculously comfortable, and can be worn with literally anything from denim, shorts and joggers.

Ray-Ban 3016 Clubmaster Black Sunglasses Review

At the weekend we headed to the Cotswolds to meet our wedding florist. She's absolutely incredible, so sweet and full of ideas. I haven't got a clue when it comes to flowers or their names, but she seemed to grasp exactly what I was looking for - which is basically just boho, vintagey wildflowers. We even saw the venue all set up for a wedding but it looked really stark and empty, as the bride-to-be only had a few flowers and opted for candles instead... Argh! Each to their own but I want ours to look like a Pinterest dream (same goal as any girl, right?).

After our meeting, we headed to the Westonbirt Arboretum to see the trees full of autumn colours and re-live our engagement, which was over a year ago! It was surprisingly mild and sunny, but we were packing a pair of Ray-Ban 3016 Clubmaster's from Sunglasses Shop which protected our eyes from the sunshine (we took it in turns because sharing is caring).

Ray-ban Sunglasses: c/o Sunglasses Shop

Sam & I always share sunglasses and we both have a bit of a weakness for anything Ray-Ban. The Clubmaster is our favourite style, loved by all the greats - Robert Pattinson, Gaga, Beyoncé etc. The price has come down a little since I got my last pair because these beauts are pretty darn affordable, especially when you redeem one of the discount codes Sunglasses Shop have on offer.

Do you have a favourite sunglasses brand? Which Ray-Ban style is your favourite?

Hugo Boss Menswear at Tessuti

Tim is a Hugo Boss addict. This love is serious, and it's not entirely uncommon to find him literally head to toe (or beanie hat to socks/shoes!) in his fave designer brand. He likes how classically styled and discreet it is, and you can't fault the quality. In fact, he loves it so much that we have been looking specifically at Boss suits for our wedding!

With this in mind, he was thrilled when designer store Tessuti sent him a beaut grey Boss Orange Pioli Polo Shirt to start his new AW15 wardrobe off, along with a care package of manly things to make him feel spesh. I'm sure Tara's Sam will agree that it's always fun for the boys when one of our faves think of them, and just one of the many perks of being a Rawrboy eh? ;)

Marks and Spencer Men's Blue Slim Suit

We absolutely love featuring our men on the blog and recently Sam was asked to take part in a new men's suit styling challenge with Marks and Spencer. M&S have such a fantastic range of suits - all the men in my life have suits from them, including Sam!

Sam has quite a casual style but he loves wearing suits and getting dressed up for special occasions. He always prefers a slim fit suit because the cut is much more flattering for his slender frame. It's also more modern.

#TrainerTuesday - Adidas Originals ZX Flux Only At JD Sports!

Tuesday, 12 May 2015

For your viewing pleasure today we have the ever elusive Timmy, of Jade and Tim fame, working some pretty fine new Adidas Originals ZX Flux Blue/White, £77 and only at JD Sports. Tim has about 9200 pairs of trainers but his faves are always the latest must have Adidas styles, so the electric blue ZX Flux were a very welcome addition to his wardrobe!

Outfit: Shirt - Boss Orange, Tshirt (just seen) - Boss Orange, Jeans - Boss Orange, Trainers - Adidas c/o JD Sports
Adidas ZX Flux Boss menswear blog JD Sports

The ZX Flux have a sporty design taken from the ZX 8000, but Adidas have revamped and refreshed it for a minimal, clean look that is just as at home with denim and a shirt as it would be with joggers and a hoodie. Tim doesn't shy away from colourful footwear (though you'd be forgiven for raising an eyebrow at the rows of pure white sneaks in our shared dressing room!) and while he toyed with the other JD exclusive ZX Flux colourway of Grey/White, he's stoked that he chose this eyecatching blue and I think it really suits his smart/casual style.

Adidas ZX Flux Boss menswear blog JD Sports

The engineered mesh upper is basically like wearing socks with a lightweight, bouncy sole, so Tim totally vouches for the comfort factor which is only heightened with the Torsion system for enhanced stability. The ZX Flux are probably my faves in his Adidas wardrobe right now, even beating out his Gazelles and (slaps own face in shock) the Star Wars Forum Mid AT-AT's that I stalked like a crazy to buy on release several years ago. I like the boyish charm of the ZX and I do enjoy a good colour matched lace up ;)

JD were, as always, spot on with delivery - next day by my courier of choice, DPD. King Of Trainers indeed, fine holiday fun, and a big two thumbs up for finally bringing my shy guy out for a show and tell. I think he'll have a little more patience with me getting my pose on next time he's on his usual side of the camera!

It's nice to get the menfolk involved on the blog occasionally don't you think? We're currently a duo but next year we could possibly be a quartet, like the Abba of the blogging world, but with considerably less spandex wearing and blue eyeshadow . . .

J (and Tim) - The couple that blogs together, spends a lot of time editing photos together. Ahem.

Key SS15 Menswear Trends: Darkest Blue!

Monday, 6 April 2015

As mentioned in another menswear post last week, we're hoping to start a new series of posts on men's fashion and the upcoming trends for this season. We've already touched on Statement Stripes and the French Riviera trends, but today's outfit is all about the 'Darkest Blue'.

Blue is flattering shade for most people, and Fat Face has recently introduced their very own darkest blue collection featuring shades of a distinctive indigo hue. Both Sam and I are massive fans of Tom Ford and I think his SS15 collection could even inspire Sam to try out double denim. Our favourite look was a layered denim shirt tucked into pair of indigo jeans worn with a navy jacket, creating a casual but dapper ensemble.. It's definitely something I can imagine my beau recreating!

Blue on blue was seen all over the SS15 menswear runways, Prada had some particularly nice indigo outerwear pieces on display (oh what we'd give for a trench), and although Paul Smith showcased a fair amount of head to toe blue outfits, we particularly liked the deep blues combined with pops of colour.
Jumper and shorts: Fat Face (c/o) - Trainers: Vans

Above, Sam is styling the breton stripe crew neck jumper with the cove flat front shorts from Fat Face's new collection. I'd say Fat Face run slightly large, Sam would usually be a medium in jumpers but this is a size small and it fits him perfectly. It's a great quality jumper and is apparently 'made to be lived in'! We'll definitely be taking this on our UK adventures this Summer and these shorts will be coming to Glastonbury with us. Both pieces are extremely versatile, I always thought of Fat Face as being a slightly older brand but I've certainly been proved wrong, I know from now on we'll both be venturing into our local store more often.

Although it probably doesn't come across in these photos, Sam is ridiculously camera shy! I love taking photos of him (I never get bored of looking at that face) but he's not the most confident person in front of a camera, so I hope you like these menswear posts and perhaps with a little encouragement, we'll see more of him on here!

Are you interested in Men's fashion? Would you like to see more of our Rawr boys?

Key SS15 Menswear Trends: French Riviera!

Tuesday, 31 March 2015

Today's post focuses on menswear and the upcoming trends for SS15! We always take a keen interested in men's fashion but we rarely feature our rawr boys on the blog. I hope you enjoy today's post and at the end of it, feel a little inspired when it comes to buying for the man in your life - be it a friend, father, sibling or a partner!

Sam has his own personal style and he tends to be ahead of the game in terms of fashion, he's always wearing key fashion pieces before they become mainstream. I remember laughing at him when he first bought a pair of Converse (10 years ago, before they'd became popular again) and then proceeded to buy myself several pairs a year later. He wanted a denim shirt before the high street chains started selling them (again), I laughed at him, then bought myself a denim shirt a few months later. He started sporting Nike Air Max's and I giggled and told him he looked ghetto... 2 years later I have quite a few pairs which I adore. There are plenty more examples buy you get the gist! If you asked him, he'd say he wasn't stylish in the slightest, but to me he has the coolest, relaxed men's style.

Sophisticated statement stripes are big for Spring/Summer '15, as seen at Hackett London, Gucci and several other big designers. Dior Homme, Giorgio Armani, and the more affordable Emporio Armani, also showcased some great casual stripes during their SS15 catwalks and we've seen this trickle down to the high street. I love a man in stripes and they tie in nicely with the French Riviera trend.

Mens French Riviera Trend
I think Sam is a little scared of stripes but he's a fan of bright colours for Spring/Summer and I really like this combination. Blue seems to be the colour of the season, from light blue to cobalt blue, and everything in between. These Boss chino shorts are perfect for injecting a bit of colour into his wardrobe, and wouldn't look out of place in Saint-Tropez.

He's created a real-life French Riviera themed look book by styling these shorts in 3 different ways! He bought these M&S brogues last year and they're my favourite pair of shoes he owns. I wish there was a ladies version because the shape, the colour and the price = just yes.

His second look was pretty easy to achieve, he just threw on a grey long sleeved jumper to take his outfit from day to night. After all, it gets cold by the water on an evening! He has this top in a few different colours and I think they really suit him. There's just something about a button up.

Tees: Primark - Jumper: M&S - Shorts: Boss (c/o) - Brogues: M&S - Sunglasses: Ray-Ban - Watch: Larsson & Jennings

His third and final look is very simple but sometimes less is more. By wearing a classic white polo neck, he's created an outfit which wouldn't look out of place while strolling down the boardwalk in Saint-Tropez, or for drinks with a friend on their private yacht. I can imagine us walking hand in hand in the French Riviera, I'll be sporting a long floaty maxi dress with a big floppy hat and some oversized shades, while he's wearing this. The locals will exclaim, "Ooh la la, what a rawrsome pair!" ;)

Our big trend predictions for this season? Co-ords for the brave and monochrome dressing (shades of one colour, not black/white) for everyone else.

Are you a fan of men's fashion? Do you like Sam's outfits?

T - Excited to marry this face. Look out for more men's outfit posts coming soon!
